"Dionisio Aguado (1784-1849) was one of the two outstanding, Spanish guitarist-composers of the early" "Dionisio Aguado (1784-1849) was one of the two outstanding, Spanish guitarist-composers of the early 19th century, the other being his friend Fernando Sor (1778-1839) Through his method, Aguado has become one of the most influential pedagogues in the history of the classical guitar As a composer however, Aguado was not as prolific as many of his early 19th century contemporaries, such as Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829), or Ferdinando Carulli (1770-1841) In fact, Aguado's opus numbers only reach 16, and all of his works are for solo guitar only (unlike Sor, for example, who composed for a variety of instruments) Aguado's teacher was Miguel Garcia, also known as Padre Basilio, a musically-gifted monk famous for being mentioned on one of Luigi Boccherini's (1743-1805) quintets which includes a fandango On the manuscript is the note, Quintet imitating the fandango played by Padre Basilio on the guitar There is no doubt that his teacher's love of the traditional folk music of Spain rubbed off on Aguado It therefore seems possible that it may have been Basilio who inspired Aguado to write what some consider his finest works Le Menuet affandango Air espagnole varie opus 15, and Le Fandango Varie, opus 16 The fandango from Aguado's opus 16 is one of the few times Aguado wrote variations -- an interesting fact when considering that the theme and variations was one of the most popular forms of his day What makes it even more interesting is the fact that this piece provides one of the earliest examples of guitar music which overflows with the flavor of Spain's traditional folk music -- flamenco (it was written sometime during the 1830's while Aguado was in Paris) Similar to his infamous rondo in a-minor, the opus 16 fandango is one of the more ambitious pieces written by Aguado it has an introduction in d-minor, flows into the fandango variations, is interrupted by an Italian opera-style aria in F-major, returns to the fandango variations, and finally ends in D-major with a style more typical of early nineteenth century music The piece lends itself very naturally and beautifully to the guitar, as it was written after Aguado had decades of experience with the instrument It is performed here on a Michael Thames cedar-top guitar" (tümünü göster) (özeti göster) Etiketler : Justin Osborne classical guitar Fandango Dionisio Aguado nineteenth century music Michael Thames Auburn
